HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis is a completely natural state and an altered state of consciousness.  It is connected to deep relaxation, narrowed focus and increased suggestibility, and is an intermediate state between sleep and wakefulness.

In fact, it is a natural state of mind that each of us experiences every single day.  Here are some examples:

·        Being fully involved in reading a book, movie, video game or television programme and wondering where the time has gone, even sometimes suddenly realising that your whole day is over.

·         Being engaged in a project that captured all attention and time flew by

·         Going window shopping at your favourite stores.

·         Zoning out while exercising.

·         Playing with an imaginary friend as a child.

All these are natural trance states which occur naturally and regularly.  Hypnosis utilizes these states to access the unconscious mind in order to more easily achieve goals and solve problems.

Hypnosis can be likened to the state when you act intuitively instead of intellectually.  During hypnosis, you basically ask your inner drill sergeant (your conscious mind) to take a break while your clever, artistic self comes forward. (your subconscious mind)

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis for therapeutic purposes.  It applies the technique of hypnosis to encourage your unconscious mind to find solutions to problems.
